Reviewing and Amending Your Living Trust Estate Plan
Los Angeles – Riverside – San Bernardino – Orange County – California
Reviewing Your Estate Plan
As an estate planning attorney, I recommend that you review your Estate Plan, Living Trust, Will, Durable Power of Attorney, and other Estate Planning documents once a year.
A good time to do this is at tax time, as you are already going through papers and reviewing your finances.
Request My Review
My clients know that they have the option of requesting a formal review by me.
Perhaps you already have an Estate Plan or Living Trust prepared by someone else. If so, chances are that I can make it significantly better.
Remember that an outdated or inadequate Estate Plan may be worse than no plan at all.
Amending Your Estate Plan
The circumstances which guided your decisions when you originally set up your Estate Plan will change due to family and financial changes, such as, family births and deaths, marriages and divorces, bankruptcies and inheritances, changes in family relationships, purchase and/or sale of real estate, etc.
Change is a part of life, and your Estate Plan or Living Trust needs to keep pace with those changes.
In addition, tax laws change sometimes affecting the existing Estate Plan. This is another reason to review your estate plan during tax season, so that you can inquire with your accountant about any tax law changes that affect your estate plan.
Protect Your Rights and Assets
Frequently reviewing your estate plan is very important, and should not be overlooked.
